"The phrase 'working mother' is redundant."
~ Jane Sellman
Mom retired from work several years ago. She said she got tired doing the same thing for about 3 decades.I think she was really happy about the retirement (hehe!). She, however, did not really stopped working. You see, she works ALL THE TIME! She does not want a house help because according to her, she does not feel secure. Anyway, we just hire someone from time to time to help with stuff.
During weekdays, she wakes up around 5am, does her bed, cooks and prepares breakfast and her grandkid's (Christian and Dominique) packed lunch for school. Then, she forces the grandkids to eat breakfast (we were also forced to eat breakfast when we were in grade school! lol) and orders them to take a bath after.
Dominique leaves for school before 7am. By 7am, mom and Christian (my nephew who is visually impaired) is off to school. After Christian is led to his classroom at about 7:30am, mom waits until 9:30am to assist him for his morning snacks, then waits again until lunch break. After lunch break, mom leaves Christian in his classroom until 2:30pm. Thereafter, she fetches Christian again for his braille class until 3:30pm. After the class, they go home. At home, mom takes her afternoon nap, then waters her plants, then fixes things here and there, then prepares and cooks dinner, then wash the dishes. This routine goes on during weekdays.
On Saturdays, she wakes up before 6am, does gardening, a little laundry, cooks breakfast, goes to the market, then cooks lunch. She takes a longer nap in the afternoon, then cooks dinner.
On Sundays, she hears the first mass at 6:45am, then cooks breakfast and lunch. After lunch, she brings Christian for his piano lessons. Sometimes, they go to the cemetery to visit dad. At night, she irons her and her grandkid's uniforms.
And because my mom is the greatest mom in the whole wide world, she deserves a vacation from time to time. You see, she never stopped taking care of us and her grandkids. She is a super mom and can do anything ~ she's a chef, nurse, teacher, laundry attendant, plumber, carpenter, accountant, baby sitter, tailor, veterinarian, gardener all rolled into one!
Being her first born, mom brought me with her all the time when I was younger. As far as I can remember, Banaue Rice Terraces was the first tourist spot I got to see with her.

In 2011, I decided to go to Beijing, China because I really wanted to celebrate my birthday in the Great Wall. And since mom is always willing, available, and able to take long walks, I asked her to go with me.
Beijing is such a huge city and I really, really love it. Mom loves Beijing too, and according to her, this is her favorite city.
